Amir Saad Mausoleum
The only surviving historic monument linked to Azerbaijanis near the city of Iravan is the Amir Saad Mausoleum, located in Jafarabad village along the Iravan–Echmiadzin road. Built in 1413 by Pir Huseyn, the son of Amir Saad, a commander from the Kara Koyunlu dynasty, this tomb was constructed as a family mausoleum over his father's grave. What makes this structure different from other medieval monuments is that it was built from local red tuff stone instead of brick.
After restoration work at Iravan’s Blue Mosque—later renamed the "Iranian" or "Persian Mosque" by official Iravan authorities—the medieval mausoleum in Jafarabad has also been called the "Turkmen Mausoleum."
Today, it is officially listed among protected historical monuments in Armenia under the name "Mausoleum of the Turkmen emirs' family."
The village of Jafarabad was renamed Argavand by Armenians in 1946.
