Tepebashi Mosque

Tepebashi Mosque

Located in the Tepebashi district, historical literature refers to it as Haji Imamverdi Mosque. Sources indicate it was situated on Tepebashi Street during the Russian occupation. Originally built in 1687, the mosque eventually took its name from the district where it was located. The mosque's dome collapsed in the 1960s. Currently, several Armenian families reside within the mosque and its additional buildings, whose walls are approximately 1.5 meters thick. A tea house, once located near the mosque, served as a gathering place for Muslims. In recent times, the mosque was known as Abbasgulu Khan Mosque, after Abbasgulu Khan Irevanski—a member of the city Duma and grandson of Hussein Ali Khan, the Khan of Iravan—whose residence was located nearby.
