Tanaat Temple
The Tanaat Temple, an Albanian Christian temple dating to early Christianity (4th–5th centuries), is situated between Arafsa and Tazakand villages in the Qarakilsa district. Due to its red stone construction, local Azerbaijanis also referred to it as the Red Church. Researchers suggest the site originally served as a Zoroastrian temple before Christianity. According to historian Stepan Orbelian, the temple dates to 491 AD. Around it are khachkars (stone crosses), graves, fortress ruins, and other relics dating from the 13th–17th centuries.
